Free apps on Windows PC

Do you remember when you had to buy a new computer? You couldn’t wait to get it and set it up. However, there was a problem when you looked at all the applications that came with the computer. One by one, you found out that these applications were “free to try“. They usually have a one-month trial period, after which you have to pay an annual fee to use the program, while some may have a one-time fee.

Although there are free software packages available that will do exactly what the paid versions can do, knowing where to find them is key. The point is that these costs are high, and everyone has tasks they want to conduct on the computer, only to find out that it will cost hundreds of dollars more to do these projects. Well, I’ve got great news for you – I will show you how to find free software.

“The first thing I do is head over to a website that is reliable and well-established. On the right-hand side of the homepage, you will find the category “Most Popular Downloads”. This list of programs is a great place to start our search for free software.

As I am writing this article, the top two most popular programs are antivirus programs. This is a great example of the types of software that we are looking for, because as you set up your computer, you may find that the antivirus program is only a free trial. Below, I looked at two free programs. Which one should we choose? This will require a bit of research.

After searching through the “Most Popular Downloads” list, I found that some of my favorites were missing. I usually use “OpenOffice” for creating text files. This is a complete office suite, which includes powerful programs for creating presentations, spreadsheets, text files, images, and databases. This free software will save you countless dollars. Use your favorite search engine to find OpenOffice.org.

“Each software package that is listed in the ‘Most Popular Downloads’ has a review page. You can find all the information that you need on the review page.”

At the top of the page, you can read the review by CNET. Next, it will be the company’s overview of its product. But we’re not done. We need even more information that is on the review page. Look for the heading “Quick Specs”.

Then, look at the price. We want “free”, not “free to try”. Next, look at the operating systems that the program works on. Make sure that your OS is on this list.

Finally, we want to read the reviews written by computer users who have installed (and used) this program on their computers. These reviews are rated on a five-star scale. Additionally, the reviewers list the pros and cons of the program.

Based on the reviews, I do not need to guess if this application is good or bad. They will give the product a thumbs-up or thumbs-down. I count how many stars they gave the product. This is why I trust this site. We can see how many people have already downloaded the program. This gives some credibility to the program.
